And just like that, race weekend came around again. And all we can say, is that Shepparton was a HUGE success this year! You should have all heard the news the Sammy S-M-A-S-H-E-D her half ironman race to take the win in her AG. Sammy came off the bike with a 7min gap to the leader. Careful words from the coach and her known dominance in the run, had a predicted passing on the last lap of the course. But oh no, Sammy had taken 4 mins off on the first lap and ran herself on to the top step during the second. So happy for you Chick! And then there was Phil! We don’t know anyone who has been more patient, more consistent, more thorough with his return to racing and it all paid off with a 3rd placing in his AG. Huge Congrats, Phil. And so many other awesome achievements – first time racers, huge PBs, great times and surprise podiums (congrats Kathryn, Annette, Janine and Alice)! Shout out to speed demons in Jez for a blistering 30min swim, to Archie for a cranking 2:23 on the bike and to Raph who had the fastest 21kms on the day, going sub 1:30 - Shepparton had it all. Can’t stress enough how fun it is to go away on an event weekend with the tribe and encourage you all to get involved next year! Check out the Weekend Wrap Up for all the results. And now, Race #1 of the 2XU series gets underway in just over a week! This will by far be one of the biggest events of the season, with short-course athletes itching to get back out on the racing course and a HUGE bunch of Try the Tri’s making their debut. Naturally, we’ll have the TA TAJ set up on Saturday morning, a race recon session, Tips & Tricks and race day support (including a celebratory BBQ) for all our athletes. If you’re around, make sure you pop in at some time and say hi. And in case you’ve forgotten, all Tri Alliance members receive a 20% discount on their race entries. Use the link below to make sure you enter correctly. With the festive season almost upon us, it ‘tis the time to be social. We’ve got 2 events coming up and you’re all invited! We’ll start with an informal catch up at the Melb Street Eatz in Elwood and follow up with our Xmas Party a couple of weeks later. Both will be a good chance to get together, (outside of lycra), relax, have fun and be merry! More details down further.
It’s also time to think about welcoming new Ambassadors, as we wind down the duties of Ed-bassador and Steph-bassaor ☹ We're excited to find a male and female athlete, who’d like to become a Tri-Alliance Ambassador for the upcoming Triathlon Season and share their experience, support and encouragement with fellow team mates. There’s loads more info below about the program and it’s time to get nominating!!! Don't forget to get your race suit sorted, your new cycling kit organised and your Garmin ordered...it's time to race :) Nothing left to do, but R E A D O N!!!
