And just like that, race weekend came around again.  And all we can say, is that Shepparton was a HUGE success this year!  You should have all heard the news the Sammy S-M-A-S-H-E-D her half ironman race to take the win in her AG.  Sammy came off the bike with a 7min gap to the leader.  Careful words from the coach and her known dominance in the run, had a predicted passing on the last lap of the course.  But oh no, Sammy had taken 4 mins off on the first lap and ran herself on to the top step during the second.  So happy for you Chick!  And then there was Phil!  We don’t know anyone who has been more patient, more consistent, more thorough with his return to racing and it all paid off with a 3rd placing in his AG.  Huge Congrats, Phil.  And so many other awesome achievements – first time racers, huge PBs, great times and surprise podiums (congrats Kathryn, Annette, Janine and Alice)!  Shout out to speed demons in Jez for a blistering 30min swim, to Archie for a cranking 2:23 on the bike and to Raph who had the fastest 21kms on the day, going sub 1:30 - Shepparton had it all.  Can’t stress enough how fun it is to go away on an event weekend with the tribe and encourage you all to get involved next year!  Check out the Weekend Wrap Up for all the results.

And now, Race #1 of the 2XU series gets underway in just over a week!  This will by far be one of the biggest events of the season, with short-course athletes itching to get back out on the racing course and a HUGE bunch of Try the Tri’s making their debut.  Naturally, we’ll have the TA TAJ set up on Saturday morning, a race recon session, Tips & Tricks and race day support (including a celebratory BBQ) for all our athletes.  If you’re around, make sure you pop in at some time and say hi.  And in case you’ve forgotten, all Tri Alliance members receive a 20% discount on their race entries.  Use the link below to make sure you enter correctly.

With the festive season almost upon us, it ‘tis the time to be social.  We’ve got 2 events coming up and you’re all invited!  We’ll start with an informal catch up at the Melb Street Eatz in Elwood and follow up with our Xmas Party a couple of weeks later.  Both will be a good chance to get together, (outside of lycra), relax, have fun and be merry!  More details down further.

It’s also time to think about welcoming new Ambassadors, as we wind down the duties of Ed-bassador and Steph-bassaor ☹  We're excited to find a male and female athlete, who’d like to become a Tri-Alliance Ambassador for the upcoming Triathlon Season and share their experience, support and encouragement with fellow team mates. There’s loads more info below about the program and it’s time to get nominating!!!

Don't forget to get your race suit sorted, your new cycling kit organised and your Garmin ordered...it's time to race :)

Nothing left to do, but R E A D  O N!!!

2XU TRIATHLON SERIES

Tri Club Championship
Tri Club Championship
Each year, the 2XU Series runs an Individual Series Championship alongside their events. Points can be scored by finishing top 10 in the Sprint (races 1–5), and the Olympic Distance in Race 6, in Elite, Junior Elite, Age Group & Clydesdale/Athena categories. To win your category you must have competed in a minimum of three championship races.
There is also a CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP, whereby ALL athletes can earn points for our squad.  One point is allocated to each squad member competing and those who finish within the top five of their category will also be awarded additional points. The best 15 competitor’s club points are summed to calculate the club’s point score for a particular race. Last year we finished a very close 3rd!!!  To ensure our athletes are earning points for Tri Alliance, we need to make sure you select our Tri Club when entering any of the events below.  Make sure you use "TRI-ALLIANCE" when entering.

Be Part of the Team Colours
Who has stepped into the shower, eyes closed, teeth gritted, ready for that painful sting of water hitting post-race trisuit chaffing? I know, I’m sorry to make you think about it! This was me, just last week after Noosa Tri, feeling a bit worse for wear (thanks to a variety of other factors), stepping into the shower thinking that painful sting was the last thing I needed. And do you know what happened? Nothing happened! Oh...My...Goodness. How is this even possible you ask?? The weather was hotter than last year, I started 2 hours later (hotter again) than last year, I used nothing to prevent chaffing before the race, I poured gallons of water over myself to keep cool…and yet, I was chafe free!! Woohoo!
Not only do I feel racier and faster, not only am I easy to spot and attract #allofthecheers, but I had zero chaffing and no wet nappy feeling in my new trisuit…ah-mazing!
And if that wasn’t enough, a week later I found myself cheering on everyone at Challenge Shepp, completely blown away by just how good the new TA trisuits look!
So if you haven’t already jumped on board the new trisuit bandwagon, get on it!! You’re just in time for the start of the season and we guarantee you will get extra cheers…so come on, don’t be like some people at Challenge Shepp in non-TA suits who only got cheers once they were 200m down the road and we’d finally realised we knew them (we tried our best, I promise!)…no, don’t be like them, be more like Dan!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Xmas
~ SUNDAY 16th DECEMBER ~

A key social event on our calendar!
Christmas is the festive season – and triathletes are no different than everyone else (well, maybe……) but we all still celebrate Christmas and this event is looked forward to each year. It’s a time to get together, (outside of lycra), relax, have fun and be merry!

Lawn bowls, BBQ nibbles and festive drinks (LFBs for many of us) at St Kilda bowling club from 3pm onwards.

Due to the popular success of Secret Santa last year, we are expanding this year to include the lads.  So if you would like to partake in a bit of fun and nonsense, send Bondy an email to get all the details

The TA Way
Do you love Triathlon as much as we do?

Every year, we're excited to find a male and female athlete to become a Tri-Alliance Ambassador for the upcoming Triathlon Season and share their experience, support and encouragement with fellow team mates.

To be an ambassador for Tri-Alliance, you don’t have to be the best athlete with the best results, you just have to be dedicated, consistent and openly support the TA Way.

Tri-Alliance Ambassadors will display characteristics such as positive and motivational attitude, consistently train and attend Tri-Alliance coached sessions, encourage and support fellow athletes and have a genuine and strong passion for Tri-Alliance and the sport of Triathlon.

In return, Tri-Alliance in conjunction with our partners, Mizuno Running, Giant South Yarra and Orca, will support YOU and your training through apparel and product support.
Nominations are now open.

Taking TA Athletes For Fun Sessions

You may have noticed a super-cool, stand up bike that has been joining our wind training sessions lately.. It’s called the ElliptiGO!  Both an indoor and outdoor bike, the ElliptiGO combines the best of running, cycling and the elliptical trainer to give you a fun and effective tool for outdoor training sessions.
Stand Up cycling is a low-impact exercise that builds cardiovascular fitness, while being easy on the joints, which makes it great for everyone.

Now.. how can you experience it? We’ve partnered with the ElliptiGO Experiences team, Lexi and Monika Alston, who will be running morning Fun Training sessions exclusively for the TA family.

It's Time to Sign
We have had a great partnership with Elwood Life Saving Club for many years and we truly believe in supporting the amazing work they do.  That's why we're encouraging all our members to get behind the club and sign up as a member for the 2018/19 season.  Not only will this support our community, it will also provide you with the opportunity to be eligible for a foreshore parking pass (will save you loads in parking fees...or fines when you get done for forgetting!).  So,
Membership fees for the 2018/19 season will remain the same.  We ask that all members renew by 30 September 2018 so that you can continue to enjoy the activities provided by the Club.
We also ask that all members aged 18 and over ensure that you have a current Working with Children Check, which has Elwood LSC and Life Saving Victoria listed as organisations.  We will not be able to process your renewals without this due to changes that occurred under the Child Protection legislation last year.
