JUST KEEP GOING ... JUST KEEP GOING!

Here we are, back at the beginning of Build Week #1.  We hope you rested and rejuvenated yourselves during Recovery Week and are ready and raring to go again this week.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for some fun and trivia on Friday night.  It’s great to get together informally to see each other, have a bit of a laugh and hang a bit of [email protected] on Gaz!  We ha 3 rounds, General Trivia, Movie Quotes and Bizarre Sports, so a bit of something in there for everyone.  Acknowledgement to Andrea, who managed to take out the win!  Ollie is claiming better internet speeds may have assisted the victory :) Andrea was joined on the podium by Jo & Andy Wood-Rich and Sarah Ryan!  With Coaches Steph and Scotty rounding out 4th and 5th place.  We look forward to hosting another round next recovery week (1st October).

Speaking about podiums, if you didn’t see over the weekend, Lotte took out the top step in Ironman 70.3 Sunny Coast yesterday.  It was her first time at this distance, leading the race from start to finish.  In a dominant performance, she increased her time gap through all 3 legs.  Many of you will know Lotte from her time in Melbourne.  She trained with us whilst competing in the sprint distances.  We’re thrilled for her win and for all her hard work paying off.  She’s definitely one to watch in upcoming long course races!

Something else to watch are Garmin’s!  Is it time to bandwagon?  Have you been thinking about upgrading?  Do you need to think about a Christmas present…? for yourself!  Well, we want to give you the heads up now, so you can avoid disappointment later. We know that, like everyone else in the world, Garmin are (and will be) having supply chain issues with all current stock, and there will be no new releases of devices this year.  So really, this is your last chance before Christmas to snag yourself a great deal.  There's a deal for everyone - short course, long course, overdue upgrades!  All the info is below, but if you don’t act fast, don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Keep reading for details about our ON Squad Race team, an article written by Neda about Cold Water Therapy and the overview of sessions on the menu this week.

Set the tone today for the rest of the week, team!

ON Squad Race

We are thrilled with those who have signed up to be part of our ON Squad Race team.  It feels like a good bunch.
Here they are:
Scotty / Ollie / Bondy / Michelle / Nic / Fik / Orlando / Dil / Aurelie / Michael / Steph / Mario / Sheridan / Samantha / Neda / Jimmy

We are currently in 2nd place and will be working hard over the next 2 weeks to stay at the top!

We are accumulating points from the following categories:

  • The average 5k speed for all your squad members
  • The total average km run per squad member
  • The size of your squad (up to your 50th runner)

Let's get behind the team and wish them well.  Maybe a friendly check in to see how they are going, or some virtual high 5's or even a friendly kick up the bum if that's what's needed.

Let's do this, Team!

ATHLETE CORNER
Winter Open Water
Cold Water Therapy

You know how when you go for a run, ride, swim, do a hard sweat session or something that gets your adrenaline pumping, you immediately feel good?  Albeit knackered, your body releases all these euphoric hormones and makes you feel accomplished, satisfied and relaxed.

Then you go home, the feeling slowly dissipates, you get on with the 9-5 and by dinnertime you forget the feeling ever existed…until the next session.

Well, cold water therapy has been shown to do just that, but each time you are exposed the benefits last longer and longer.

The jury is still out on conclusive hard evidence, but so far, the stats are looking pretty good…
