WORD FROM THE COACHES
Many thanks for all the messages and support over the past week since the passing of Ryan. Those who knew him have really appreciated this and we know his close friends and family are also very grateful. A memorial service and celebration of his life was held last night at MSAC in the appropriately named Champions room. The evening drew together many who knew him giving time to reflect and remember the friend we all knew and loved.
SUNSHINE COAST 70.3
Congratulations to all our athletes who raced at the Sunshine Coast at the Ironman 70.3 Event last weekend. On a good weather day a solid and challenging course was taken on by Coach Kat, Michelle G, Jemma H, Shaun P, Michael G and Gary R. From social media posts it was an enjoyable if slightly painful experience for most. We hope the recovery is going well and hope to see you back at training soon looking forward to the next events on your calendars.

QUEENSCLIFF CAMP
Whilst some were racing our pre-season camp was held down on the Bellarine Peninsular. We had 20 athletes taking on a packed weekend compromising of 4 cycles, runs off the bike and a bracing open water swim at Portarlington. This has set them up nicely to transition into the season with some time trial and running off the bike already done. We want to thank coaches and athletes who made this camp another great weekend. Please ensure if you attended that your recovery is a priority this week to gain maximal benefit from it. Any questions please chat with your coaches.
TRAINING & COACH UPDATES
It is the final winter run time trial at MSAC tomorrow evening so please remember that there will be no Tan session. We expect athletes to turn up and test themselves to see how their winter progression has gone. 5k and 10k distances will be held. Meet Coach Frankie inside MSAC's main entrance just before 6:15pm for your warm up. If you are late and cannot find the group please call her on 0431 018902.
As it is recovery week all rides will be on Beach Road with Coach Greg briefing all at Elwood - be ready to roll at 7am Saturday morning. Please check your programs for appropriate distances.
As many will be aware Head Coach Ollie will be away for a number of weeks from this coming Sunday. He is heading to Thailand and then Kona Hawaii to hep our 4 qualifying Ironman athletes get their final race preparations ready for their big dance mid-October. Our other excellent coaches will be on hand taking sessions in his absence and even though abroad he will be contactable via email should you need to. It is business as usual and we want to ensure we keep the momentum into the new race season from what has been a great winter preparation phase.
We also wish Coach Kat and Jonney Yeates all the best as they travel back to the UK to get married in the next coming weeks. . |
