~ 13th November 2023 ~

Happy Monday everyone!

We're still catching our breath after the thrill of Ironman Melbourne 70.3 yesterday! It truly was a great day out, despite the swim being shortened, for ??? reasons!  The sun joined the party towards the back end of the morning, creating a day of smiles, high-fives, and a few superhero poses – that's how we roll at TA!

But the excitement doesn't stop there! The launch of the 2XU Triathlon Series is just less than 2 weeks away!! As you finish off your final build week, it's more important than ever to stay focused.  Let's bring that TA energy to the starting line and make every stride count.

Remember, one of the amazing benefits of your Tri-Alliance Annual Membership is your gift of 20% off your race entries!!!! That's a huge saving, and we want all of you to use it. Take advantage of this perk and make sure your registration is completed before 4pm on Friday 24th November (unless sold out prior).

Time to get your TA Trisuit sorted so you can have a final trial run before you race.  The vibrant blue and yellow not only provides a stylish and sleek look to head into a new season with, but you'll also guarantee epic cheers and support from the crowd on race day by being easily recognised as you make your way around the course. Gear up and stand out, TA style!

As we mentioned last week, there are some fantastic opportunities ahead, and we'd love for you to be a part of them. We need your valuable experiences and your warm, welcoming spirit to make our newer members feel the true TA love.  Your presence and support will go a long way in showing them the camaraderie that exists both inside and outside of training.

Get ready for a big week of training to take you into the new Short Course season!

What A Day!

Ironman Melbourne 70.3 was an absolute ripper, serving up a smorgasbord of smiles, surprises and superheroes. Let's break it down!

First off, the swim had a mind of its own, with the buoys deciding they'd rather play tag than stay put. So, organisers opted for a brisk 800-meter splash-fest starting at St Kilda Surf Life Saving Club at 6:30am. Short and sweet, just like a shot of espresso to wake up those tired muscles. Onto the bike leg and it was a cruise down the familiar Beach Rd, blessed with a gentle breeze and plenty of cheers spread along the course from the TA family. And would you believe it? The sun decided to join the party just in time for the run, turning Melbourne 70.3 into a picture-perfect day for all involved.

A round of applause for our first timers – Raditya, James, Sri, Shri, Shane, and Sarah – who tackled the distance with the enthusiasm of kids in a candy store. Welcome to the club, where madness meets endurance, and you've officially earned your stripes.

The speedsters of the day were none other than Team "6 ears, 3 ear plugs" (Georgia, Angus, Liam), clocking in at 4:05:31. Trent, a force to be reckoned with, nailed it individually in 4:11:24, also snagging his Age Group crown.

A shoutout to the aquatic maestro, Joey, who sliced through the water in a cool 17:18. Meanwhile, Angus (you beast on wheels), buried himself for the team with a time of 2:18:59, but Trent and James were hot on his tail. The run split was a showdown of speed, with Trent crossing the finish line at a blink-and-you'll-miss-it 1:22:00, closely followed by Liam at 1:23:35. These guys were practically flying!

Top 10 finishes included Trent in 1st place, “6 ears, 3 ear plugs” in 5th and the hilariously named "Try Not To Die" (Enrique, Ben, Neda) snatching 10th place. Sorry, Mario, you were just a breath away in 11th – still a solid effort!

To all our athletes, whether you embraced the podium or just embraced the post-race snacks – you rock! Your commitment, grit, and love for the sport make this community something special. Until the next adventure, keep SBR-ing, keep it fun, and keep those legs moving!
