Still Standing After the Weekend

Usually this lands in your inbox on a Monday morning… but here we are on Tuesday. And honestly? After the weekend that was, we’re calling the extra 24 hours recovery for the admin team. Race weekends are always big, and between Race #3, squad support, and a couple of personal curveballs for Ollie and me, we needed a moment to catch our breath. Thanks for your patience.  Now let’s rewind and unpack it.

🌬️ Race #3 Recap – St Kilda Delivered the Full Experience

Race #3 of the 2XU Triathlon Series rolled into St Kilda on the weekend, and it came with just about everything except predictable conditions.

The lead-in week was hot, windy, and heavy, with parts of regional Victoria dealing with serious bushfire emergencies, but race day itself brought cooler temps… and plenty of wind. The marina swim, usually calm and bath-like, turned spicy. Chop, swell, and a sweeping current made the journey out to the buoys hard-earned, while the ride back in felt almost generous by comparison.

The bike leg was honest...windy, demanding, and exactly the kind of conditions we prepare for in training. It wasn’t about hero numbers, it was about grit, patience, and holding your line. For many, the run felt like a welcome release: familiar paths, solid legs, and the satisfaction of closing out a proper day’s work.

Podium Shoutouts 🥇🥈🥉

  • Stella Barber – 1st

  • Bernice Ryancruse, Oscar’s Heroes, Cindy Vandecasteele – 2nd

  • Chris Dixon – 3rd

And a special mention to Andrea Crompton, who finished 2nd in the Australian Para National Selection Race — an outstanding result on a big stage.

🙌💛 Behind the Scenes Legends

A massive thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend run smoothly. Some popped in when they could, others were there from start to finish...all of it mattered.  Thank you.  We genuinely couldn’t do this without you.

🔁🔥 Back to Work (Recovery Comes Later)

All sessions are on as per the usual timetable this week. This is not Recovery Week...that’s next week. So, if you’re feeling a little tired, good. That means the work is landing.

Push through, stay consistent, and earn the downshift that’s coming. If you’re unsure how to manage the load post-race or mid-build, reach out to a coach.  That’s what we’re here for.

⏳👀 Countdown Corner – No Hiding From the Calendar

✨ ,Wrapping It Up

Race #3 reminded us of something important: you don’t get to choose the conditions...you only get to choose how prepared you are. The athletes who adapted, stayed calm, and trusted their training were the ones who got the most out of the day.

Now it’s back to consistency. One more solid week, then a chance to absorb it all properly. Keep showing up, keep asking questions, and keep moving forward.

See you out there
