What a Weekend

Race #3 of the 2XU Triathlon Series yesterday was nothing short of spectacular. We had a sizzling hot day on Saturday, a hot and humid start on Sunday, and then, right on cue at 12pm, the heavens opened! But not even a torrential downpour could dampen the spirits of the TA family. A massive thank you to everyone who made the weekend such a success. With the head honcho out of town, it was truly a collective effort that kept everything running smoothly. Race results are detailed below.  Check them out and give yourselves a well-earned pat on the back!

While the squad was tearing up the course in St Kilda, our very own Special K (Jo) tackled the epic Two Bays Trail Run yesterday. She conquered the challenging 27.55km run in an incredible time of 03:24:37. What an achievement, Jo!

Today kicks off Build Week 2 in our training cycle. This 3-week periodised structure is where the magic happens, team. By progressively building load and then allowing for recovery, you’re setting yourself up for long-term gains and peak performance. It’s important to stick to the plan, trust the process, and show up ready to work.

For those who raced over the weekend, take today and tomorrow a little easier.  Listen to your body and recover well. By Wednesday, it’s back to full swing. And for everyone else, all sessions are on the timetable, so there’s no excuse not to push through to the end of the week. Let’s keep the momentum going strong.

We’re thrilled to have Coach Gaz back at the helm. With his energy, expertise and knack for getting the best out of everyone, you can bet it’s going to be a fantastic week of training. Be sure to say hello and make the most of his guidance.

As we dive deeper into January, remember this: consistency is your secret weapon. It’s not about perfection; it’s about showing up, putting in the work, and building those small, daily wins that add up to something extraordinary.

Here’s to another brilliant week! 💥

Race #3 - St Kilda Edition

The third race of the 2XU Triathlon Series brought us to the vibrant foreshore of St Kilda. Known for its bustling atmosphere and scenic views, the course offered athletes the perfect mix of familiarity and excitement. The weather was absolutely brilliant for the race, wrapping up just in time before a typically ferocious Melbourne storm hit to rain on our parade!

As always, the Tri-Alliance squad showed up in force, delivering standout performances and proving that all the hard training is paying off. Here's the breakdown of highlights from Race 3:

Sprint Distance Highlights

The Sprint Race (750m swim, 26.7km bike, 5km run) was action-packed, showcasing both speed and endurance.

Top Finishers:

  • Leading the squad was John Noel, crossing the finish line in 01:17:28, securing 1st place among Tri-Alliance athletes. His consistent effort across all three legs was nothing short of remarkable.
  • Close behind were Luca Phillips (Youth) and Anthony Cuzzupe (45-49), clocking in at 01:19:49 and 01:20:27, respectively.

Discipline Leaders:

  • Swim: The fastest swim split belonged to Anthony Cuzzupe, completing the 750m swim in 00:10:07.

  • Run: The fastest run split was recorded by Luca Phillips, finishing the 5km run in 00:19:29.

Team Triumph:

  • A special shout-out goes to Team 2 (Sarah & Erin), who took on the Sprint Distance as a team and clinched 1st place in the Team Female category with a total time of 01:31:53. Sarah handled both the swim (00:13:57) and the run (00:25:40), while Erin dominated the bike leg (00:47:47). Their teamwork and strategy paid off, and they thoroughly deserved their win!

Podium Placers:

Swimming 1.5km without the buoyancy benefits of a wetsuit takes exceptional strength and technique, and Noah made it look effortless. To top it off, the next closest swimmer in his age group clocked in at 22 minutes, and he was the 3rd fastest out of all males in the Olympic race, underscoring just how remarkable Noah’s swim performance truly was. He followed this with a strong bike and run to seal his debut success.

  • Matthew O’Keeffe and Andrew Atkinson also had great races, finishing in 02:23:50 and 02:28:31, respectively.

A Massive Thank You to Our Community

What a race weekend! A huge thank you to everyone who pitched in to make Race #3 such a success. Your efforts didn’t go unnoticed, and we’re so grateful for the teamwork that defines our TA community.

Here’s a special shout-out to all the legends who went above and beyond:

And to those who braved the storm to finish the final touches, heading home looking like wet rags - thank you for going the extra mile.  We literally missed it by only 5 mins.  Talk about efficiency under pressure!

If we’ve missed anyone, please know that your efforts are deeply appreciated. This squad thrives because of the collective contributions from everyone involved.
