BIGGER & BETTER THAN EVER

How good was SANDY?!?!?  I mean, we’re all very used to training and racing along Beach Rd, but Race #2 produced something that little bit extra.  Whether it was the slightly clearer (and more jelly-filled) waters, the epic transition climb up to T1, the rolling ups and downs to keep you honest on the bike course or the scenic and diverse run track…it was all so awesomely different.  We’ve received a stack of positive feedback about this race and we hope it stays around.

Now, I just have to put it here again, coz we are blown away with the amazingness of our athletes. QUICK Sandy Stats:

  • 84 athletes racing for TA
  • 41 x Top 10 positions
  • 15 x podiums
  • 25 First Timers
  • 5 First Timers on the Podium
  • 6 x 1st place
  • 5 x 2nd place
  • 4 x 3rd place

Congratulations to everyone who raced, and make sure you see the Weekend Wrap Up for a full list of results. A big shout out to Sue, Kathryn, Sophie, Juliet, Lindsey and MISTRY (Steph, Gaz, Bondy) who made the top step in their respective distances and categories, and to Lara, David, Rachel, Nichola, Grady, James, Tegan, Monty, and Alan for their podium placings!

Did you hear the exciting news….Gaz and Sammy are our newest Tri-Alliance Ambassadors!!!!  We are looking forward to hearing from them very soon and we’ll also be having one last wrap up and farewell from our amazing outgoing Ambassadors.

You’ve got 24hours to get your TA Xmas party ticket sorted.  We’re all set for a fabulous day at St Kilda bowls club and were looking forward to having a yarn, a laugh and some LFBs with you all!  There’s also some yummy food to enjoy and a couple of bowling rinks and a Sassy Santa exchange to keep us entertained!

And before you know it, we’ll be starting up Hell Week…you’ve been warned.  So get prepared, get comfy and get reading ……R E A D    O N

Gaz-bassador & Sam-bassador
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! ! !
We are thrilled to have Gary and Sammy as our Tri-Alliance Ambassadors for the 2019 season.  Both of them are amazing athletes, have commendable qualities and go out of their way to live and breathe the TA way.  Here's what some of you had to say about Sammy:

* Approachable, genuine, supportive, people-person
* Great person to inspire others in the squad.
* Consistently at training sessions, friendly, energetic, positive mindset & inclusive.
* She’s very consistent with her training and is always very friendly to others. When I started with TA she was one of the squad who made an effort to make me feel welcome. She’s a great role model.

Here's what some of you had to say about Gaz:
I think Gary would make a good ambassador because he is friendly and funny and because he has a lot of knowledge and insight about the sport and is very good at explaining it.
* Steadfast, knowledgeable and happy to share
* Experienced athlete, shares all the values from the club, is friendly/kind to everyone, always looks after everyone on the sessions. Truly a role model.
* Gary has developed as an athlete and a person significantly over the past few years. His recent trip to Kona and his presence around the club demonstrate consistency and kindness whenever you need it.

We look forward to hearing more from them soon!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Xmas
~ Must be booked by Thursday night ~

A key social event on our calendar!
Christmas is the festive season – and triathletes are no different than everyone else (well, maybe……) but we all still celebrate Christmas and this event is looked forward to each year. It’s a time to get together, (outside of lycra), relax, have fun and be merry!

~ SUNDAY 16th DECEMBER ~

Lawn bowls, BBQ nibbles and festive drinks (LFBs for many of us) at St Kilda bowling club from 3pm onwards.

Due to the popular success of Secret Santa last year, we are expanding this year to include the lads.  So if you would like to partake in a bit of fun and nonsense, send Bondy an email to get all the details

HELL WEEK

Are You Up For The Challenge?

For those new to the concept, Hell Week – as the name suggests, is a week-long period of completing a run, ride and swim every day. In a nutshell, you’ll be competing a triathlon every day for one week, which replaces normal timetable sessions in late December at MSAC, Elwood and Albert Park.

It is simple:
6am – Group Ride from Elwood Lifesaving Club every day (Apart from Christmas Day)
6pm – Group open water swim from Elwood Lifesaving Club (if you didn’t swim in the AM) also apart from Christmas Day

The aim of Hell Week is to provide athletes with a serious spike in their training, running from December 22-29, with the exception of Christmas Day (Or go ahead and do Christmas day if you’re feeling exceptionally hell-ish!).

TRI SHOP

Wear the Team Colours

In preparing for Hell Week (or for any of our upcoming cycling sessions), you'll read that we will be enforcing a No Jersey, No Ride policy on organised group rides. Put simply, this means if you plan to roll out on a group ride departing Elwood on any day during Hell Week, the expectation is that you are wearing a Tri-Alliance jersey.

Safety is priority.  And to keep our group safe, we need to keep you togehter.  This is much more easily achieved when we are all wearing the same kit.  It's simple to spot who doesn't belong, when they don't match...us!

So, head to the TriShop ASAP.  Look for jerseys, vests, jakets, singlets, knicks, whatever you can to identify yourself a TA athlete.  Arrive without one at your peril, as you’ll end up riding alone.
