Elwood WT SC Session

Time to Double Down!

It’s Build Week 2, and that means we’re in the thick of it! With our 3-week cycle, this is the week where all those initial gains from last week start solidifying. So, if you’ve been wondering where you are in the cycle, here’s your reminder: this is the week to really push the boundaries and sharpen your focus. Every interval and every session is bringing you closer to peak performance, so make each one count!

Yesterday, we had nine athletes take to the start line at Ironman 70.3 Melbourne. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, and it made for some fast, fierce racing. We couldn’t be prouder of the effort and grit each of them brought to the course. Check out the race results below to see how they fared!

And a special shout-out to Maggie, who has gone from her very first 70.3 at Melbourne to qualifying for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Spain next year - in just one race! It’s an incredible leap, and we couldn’t be prouder of her determination and achievement. This is the kind of success that hard work, grit, and a bit of team spirit can lead to. Congratulations, Maggie!

One of the highlights of the day was seeing the camaraderie that comes with representing your squad. An athlete of ours, out there racing in TA colours, felt the impact of that team spirit firsthand, getting support from inside and outside the course (surprise, surprise!). When you’re in team kit, the support comes naturally, helping you dig a little deeper and push a little harder. Seeing others out there proudly wearing their team colours was a reminder of how much it strengthens the experience. If you haven’t grabbed your TA gear yet, now’s the time - let’s make sure everyone knows we’re here, ready to support each other, at every race!

A quick apology to Georgia, who raced at Noosa last weekend and whose results slipped under our radar. Her results are below - huge congrats, Georgia, and sorry we missed you last time!

Now, Short Course athletes, listen up: We’re going to be straight with you. We’re not seeing enough of you turning up to sessions, and we’re a little worried you might not get the race-day results you’re hoping for if the work doesn’t get done now. Thursday nights at Elwood are where we’re calling you out to bring your A-game. Our combo sessions are designed to push you to your limits, build your speed and endurance, and prepare you for the demands of race day. The tunes will be pumping, the sweat will be dripping, and our coaches are ready to bring you the challenge. But we need you to show up, ready to commit. We’re here to get you race-ready - are you?

This week’s Meet the TA Family features Martha, who is gearing up for her first Ironman in less than a month. Be sure to read more about her journey and cheer her on as she prepares for this huge milestone!

All sessions are going ahead as scheduled on the online timetable, so plan ahead, and let’s keep the momentum rolling. This week, let’s show commitment to the program, to the training, and to the team colours. Keep pushing, team!

Melb 70.3 Results

Yesterday morning, our squad took on the Ironman 70.3 Melbourne at St Kilda, a familiar venue and popular training ground for many of our athletes. The race began with a flat, glassy swim in Port Phillip Bay, helping to put pre-race nerves at ease. Athletes then transitioned to the bike, where the calm, windless conditions made for some incredibly fast ride times on the scenic course. By the time they hit the run, the sun was out, adding some heat but keeping conditions manageable. It was fantastic to see all our athletes cross the finish line with results they can be truly proud of.

Here are the impressive results from our squad members:

  • Chris Dixon: 4:22:14 / 5th / Swim 29:54 / Bike 2:17:08 / Run 1:30:25
  • Angus Wood: 4:28:02 / 20th / Swim 29:03 / Bike 2:16:21 / Run 1:36:46
  • Lior Mouyal: 4:53:45 / 23rd / Swim 32:47 / Bike 2:31:56 / Run 1:39:07
  • Edward Huang: 5:16:29 / 72nd / Swim 49:21 / Bike 2:37:21 / Run 1:42:07
  • Charlie Roberts: 5:23:54 / 80th / Swim 38:01 / Bike 2:50:08 / Run 1:44:05
  • Maggie Roberts: 5:46:20 / 10th / Swim 35:07 / Bike 2:49:30 / Run 2:12:15
  • Yasmin Johnson: 5:49:27 / 39th / Swim 36:49 / Bike 2:51:00 / Run 2:12:00
  • Gary Rosengarten: 6:06:13 / 6th / Swim 39:56 / Bike 2:53:04 / Run 2:12:12
  • Evan Maudsley: As planned, did not start the run leg. Swim 39:20 / Bike 2:58:31
  • Stephen Tilders: Chose not to start, prioritising recovery and his A-race in a few weeks.

A special shout-out to Maggie Roberts, who went from first-timer to World Champs qualifier in one go! With her impressive 5:46:20 finish, she’s now secured a spot at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Spain next year. We couldn’t be prouder of her determination and grit—what an incredible start to her triathlon journey!

Great to see so much support out there for the crew today. Thanks to all those athletes who came along and trained while they cheered, ensuring our competitors felt the squad’s backing. As one of our first-timers said, "Thank you so very much for all the amazing support out there today. Seeing you all out there was such a gift. I am truly appreciative. You guys make this triathlon adventure fun."

Congratulations to everyone for their hard work, determination, and fantastic finishes. We’re proud of each of you for representing the squad so well!

Georgia

Noosa Results

A big, heartfelt apology to Georgia MACKAY! Somehow, in last week’s round-up, I missed out on sharing her amazing performance at the Noosa Triathlon, and we want to make it right because she absolutely deserves the spotlight!

Georgia delivered a fantastic race, crossing the line with an overall time of 02:50:45. Her splits were as follows:
Swim: 00:25:50 / Bike: 01:18:48 / Run: 00:58:48 / AG Position: 51 out of 150.

To see how much Georgia has improved from her previous results - taking over 15 minutes off her 2023 time - is very impressive and a testament to the training she has been doing on her way to Busso.

Georgia, we’re sorry we missed you last week, but we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate your commitment, consistency, and strong performance.
