Why do Recovery Weeks seem to go so fast! I hope you all took the opportunity to indulge in some well-deserved rest and relaxation after pushing your limits at the recent race weekend. It should have been all about foam rolling, stretching, and maybe even a cheeky ice bath or two to soothe those tired muscles. But now, as we bid adieu to Recovery Week, it's time to shift gears and gear up for Build Week 1. With the season winding down, it's important to make every moment count.

Our Head Coach has dropped some serious knowledge bombs in his latest articles on Pelvic Girdle Health.  Ollie's seen it all too often – athletes teetering on the edge of injury because of neglected pelvic girdles. Trust me, you don't want to be in that boat. A tight pelvic girdle isn't just uncomfortable; it's a recipe for disaster, leading to imbalances, restricted movement, and a one-way ticket to the injury zone. And let's be real, folks – ain't nobody got time for that! So, do yourself a favour and spend 5 mins diving into Ollie's articles.

Dreaming of taking your triathlon skills to new heights? Look no further than our exclusive 10-day Triathlon Training Camp in Thanyapura, Thailand! From July 26th to August 4th for intermediate to advanced athletes, and August 2nd to 11th for novices to low intermediates, it's your ticket to sun-soaked training bliss. This is your chance to live the pro athlete life while smashing those personal bests. Check out the full details below and get ready to make some triathlon magic happen this off-season.

Heads up – with the F1 Grand Prix revving up in Melbourne, MSAC is temporarily closing its doors for a week to spruce things up. But fear not, we're not letting this throw a wrench in our training plans! We're taking this opportunity to shake things up a bit and embrace the great outdoors. Swim sessions will be hitting the open water, wind trainers will be moving outside, and our run intervals will be along the scenic beach. And for our Hot Laps crew, Coach Gaz will fill you in on the details – but expect some road ride action along Beach Road. Let's roll with the punches and make the most of this unexpected change of scenery!

As we navigate through the changes over the next few weeks, it's crucial to stay on top of the game. Keep a close eye on the updated timetable and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need clarification. With Race 6 and Ironman 70.3 Geelong looming on the horizon, every moment counts. Keep pushing, stay focused, and let's crush those goals!

UNLOCKING ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE

Pelvic Girdle Health for Athletes

Head Coach Ollie has put pen to paper (#oldshool) about a really important topic.  All too often he sees athletes with tight pelvic girdles and on the brink of injury. Neglecting it can lead to imbalances, limited mobility, decreased performance, and heightened injury risks. Ultimately this is all leading towards hindering athletes' abilities and longevity in the sport.

Take 5 mins of your time to understand how the pelvic girdle plays a crucial role in athlete's performance and how you can keep it healthy.

Maintaining Good Pelvic Girdle Health

Maintaining good pelvic girdle health involves a combination of strength-building exercises, release techniques, and ongoing maintenance strategies. Ollie has written some of the key methods for each aspect.

SESSION CHANGES DUE TO GRAND PRIX

Elwood-Open-Water

The Open Water Is Calling You!

Due to commitments with the Grand Prix, MSAC will be heavily impacted.  We need to relocate all our swim sessions for that week. That's great news as you get to make the most of open water swimming for the final days of the season and to prep you leading into the last race.

The sessions will be as follows:
Monday 18th March - 6pm open water swim at Half Moon Bay
Wednesday 20th March - 6.30am open water swim at Elwood Beach
Friday 22nd March - 6.30am open water swim at Elwood Beach
Monday 25th March - 6pm open water swim at Half Moon Bay

Naturally, we will assess conditions on the day, and program the session accordingly.  Please bring along all swim gear including wetsuits, paddles, fins, snorkel and resistance bands.  You will begin with a dryland warm up and hit the water at first light on Wednesday and Friday.

Runners at Albert Park Lake

Taking Our Intervals Beachside

We know access to the Albert Park precinct is becoming increasingly difficult, so for a couple of Tuesday morning run sessions we will move down the road to Middle Park.

We will meet just before 5:45am at the outdoor gym station on Beaconsfield Parade, opposite Armstrong Street, on:

Tuesday 19th March
Tuesday 26th March - yes, this is Recovery Week, but Ollie will still be down there for the Long Course crew

This session will work on various pacing and intervals based on athlete ability and goals.

Elwood WT Sessions

Outdoor Wind Trainer

We know you couldn't possibly go a week without a Tuesday night date with Gaz, but since we won't have access to MSAC on the 19th March, we will be moving the wt session to Elwood (weather permitting).

Please bring all your gear and trainers and begin setting up at 6pm on the usual location.  We'll have the van there if you need to hire a trainer, so don't let that stop you!

Sale

Bike Frame

Recently, an athlete bought a TT bike with a 56-size frame, but it was too small.
So, he's swapped the frame for a 58 and is looking to sell the 56 frame. It’s brand new and has never been ridden.

It’s a Cervelo P Series which cost $3.5k, but he's happy to sell to offer a much better deal to someone from TA.
Photos available.  Just reach out to me if you are interest or know someone who is!
