WHAT A WEEKEND!

Race #2 of the 2XU Triathlon Series in Sandringham, the last race of the series for 2019, was awesome...as expected! The first race for most of our TTT#2 crew, with plenty of our TTT#1 becoming repeat offenders and of course, the rest of the squad getting out there too, with over 70 athletes racing across the Fun, Sprint and Olympic Distances. Great results all round with some podiums, PBs and most importantly, many coming away with similar times to Elwood on what we all know is a much harder course at Sandy! Congratulations all! Shout out to Adrien, Laetitia and Sandra, our try the tri-ers who landed themselves on the podium in the sprint distance once again! Shout out also to Cuzzy, Jules, Michael Grey, Burnsy, Georgie Mervin, and Daniel Staffieri for their sprint distance podiums; to Noelsy, Scott Heron, Rachel Madden and the Tri-Alliance Dream Team for their podiums in the Olympic; and Trent Bond winning the Fun Tri! We would also like to make a special mention to one of our newest members, Nick Gilbert, who was the fastest TA sprint athlete with a time of 1:03:54...wow! Read on for a full list of results!

Whilst we would like to remain positive about the whole weekend, Coach Steph would like to get out her grumpy pants out just for a little moment to say that there was a disappointingly low number of helpers to set up and pack up the TA Taj. Now we know not everyone can help all the time, everytime...we’re not all as good as Les! But if everyone chips in a little bit when they can, everyone only has to do a little bit...just like how we choose to train with a squad for the power and strength we gain from others, the same applies here! To be completely cliche “many hands make light work” and quite frankly, if you’re using the tent to store your bag, put your wetty on or just for a post-race chin-wag, it would be GREATLY appreciated if you could pitch in to help out. The small, key group of helpers who are there week in, week out, lending a helping hand and a smiling face know who they are and we thank you SO MUCH! Long Course and Short Course alike, we look forward to this group growing over the rest of the season! #RantOver

With only 3 weeks of the year left and it being recovery week, things are looking pretty good! We have the final call for ambassador votes before we announce them this Thursday (yippeeee!). It's also time to make sure your secret santa is sorted for the TA Christmas Party this Sunday. There’s still time to secure your hell week jersey and use your extra time in recovery to join the Hell Week group and read all about how it works to make sure you’re ready and raring when it rolls around in just over 10 days! Woooop, how good is the silly season!

A lovely thing about Christmas is that it’s compulsory, like a thunderstorm, and we all go through it together.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Xmas

~ Must be booked by Thursday night ~

SUNDAY 15th DECEMBER

A key social event on our calendar!
Christmas is the festive season – and triathletes are no different than everyone else (well, maybe……) but we all still celebrate Christmas and this event is looked forward to each year. It’s a time to get together, (outside of lycra), relax, have fun and be merry!

Lawn bowls, BBQ nibbles and festive drinks (LFBs for many of us) at St Kilda bowling club from 3pm onwards.

Due to the popular success of Secret Santa, we are again expanding it to include the lads.  So if you would like to partake in a bit of fun and nonsense, hit the link below.

Are You Up For The Challenge?

For those new to the concept, Hell Week – as the name suggests, is a week-long period of completing a run, ride and swim every day. In a nutshell, you’ll be competing a triathlon every day for one week, which replaces normal timetable sessions in late December at MSAC, Elwood and Albert Park.

It is simple:
6am – Group Ride from Elwood Lifesaving Club every day (Apart from Christmas Day)
6pm – Group open water swim from Elwood Lifesaving Club (if you didn’t swim in the AM) also apart from Christmas Day

The aim of Hell Week is to provide athletes with a serious spike in their training, running from December 21-29, with the exception of Christmas Day (Or go ahead and do Christmas day if you’re feeling exceptionally hell-ish!).

Final Run of 1,000kms!!!

For the last day of Hell Week, make your run count towards supporting men's mental health, and celebrate the end of Hell Week with fellow TA athletes.

The last day of Hell Week is going to be Jamie Mattimore's final run for the year, where he will have completed 1,000km of running to raise money for men's mental health.

Jamie has pushed himself to get out there and put in the kilometers throughout the past 12 months and his final run is going to be Sunday the 29th of December at 11:00am.

Join Jamie for his final 10km (or just join in for a 5km, 2km or a 1km run), starting at West Beach Bathers Pavilion and ending back there where we will raise a toast to Hell Week, and to Jamie.

If you would like to donate to Jamie's charity Livin and support men's mental health please click here.
