Grand-Prix-Riding

As the GP rolls in, it's time for us to roll out. Out of the way, that is!  And what a bumper week this is turning out to be.  So much so, that I'm going to have to contain my usual preamble and get straight to the point, as there's just so much to cover.

I'll give you the biref here and encourage you to 'just keep reading, just keep reading' all the way through for all the details.

This week's inclusions:

  • Athlete Wellbeing - COVID-19 Announcement
  • Albert Park Precinct Impacted - changes to sessions
  • 2XU Race #5 Essentials - kit, laces, packing list & kids
  • Wear Orange Armbands this weekend

Health Advice for COVID-19

Unless you have been living under a rock (or a pile of toilet paper), you will no doubt be aware of the increasing number of cases of COVID–19, or coronavirus, appearing in Australia. With local colleges now closing and many other major institutions putting plans in place for closure and social distancing, the health and safety of all Tri-Alliance members and their families is of high priority.

You should have received an email Tuesday evening, outling our stance and the measures we will action in the event of exposure to the virus in our community.

If you missed it, please take the time to read it now.

LET'S SUPPORT OUR MATE

Jimmy-Tyler
Wear Orange Armbands For Jimmy

Most of you will know, that our great mate and current JC Award recipient, Jimmy Tyler, recently lost his beautiful sister to a rare degenerative brain disease, which took her life in just a few short months.

There is no treatment, no known cause, and no cure. It is always fatal, and most people die within 3-6 months. Sarah had just 9 weeks from initial diagnosis.

Jimmy raced Geelong 70.3 in spirit, in tribute and in memory of his sister, Sarah.

I’ll be wearing orange (the charity’s colour) to raise awareness for the disease and hopefully raise a few dollars for the CJD Support Group Network.

Here's how you can help Jimmy:
* read all about this disease and his tribute
* donate to his chartiy fundraising page
* wear an orange armband this weekend

We will have orange tape at the TA Taj all weekend and encourage everyone to get along and show your support.

If you're not in team kit, don’t blame us if you only got cheers once you're 200m down the road and we finally realised we know who you are (we try our best, I promise!)…no, don’t be like all the others, be more like Caro!

The new 2020 suits are in stock, so there's plenty of sizes available.

Friendly Faces Needed

The future stars of our crazy sport will be giving it their all again on Sunday morning with the Tri Kids race.  We're looking for some friendly faces to come and give these little ones a hand.  It's super easy, they just need help with:
* lining up in their AGs
* walking to the start line
* being pointed in the right direction
* putting on tops, shorts, shoes (after the swim)
* racking and moving bikes
* encouragement to keep going
* smiles for miles and high 5s all round!

Meet at the TA Tent at 6:45am for briefing in transition at 7:05am.  The more the merrier.  Let's get around these gems of the sport!

CONGRATULATIONS

Another One Ticked Off

Andy Wood-Rich headed over the ditch over the weekend to take part in Ironman New Zealand.

This event is the world’s longest-running IRONMAN with a proud and rich history deeply rooted in our hometown of Taupō.  Kudos to Andy for getting himself to the finish line of another Ironman race, no easy feat, and proving he can still go the distance.

Farewelling Friends

The sad time has come, that Jeff and Dorothee must think about returning home.

For many of us this will be a sad time, but for Dorothee, she won't have time to be sad as she'll continue working hard on her #RoadToKona and will take everything we've taught her to the start line of the World Champs in October.

"As time goes by our departure is getting closer and closer and we would like to find an appropriate way to say good bye and thanks to the TRI-Alliance community."
