WORD FROM THE COACHES
KONA is this weekend and all our athletes are now on the Big Island completing their final preparations before the big day. Not all preparations have been perfect but these rarely happen in Ironman racing. From all the coaches, athletes and friends and family we wish Brett, Michelle, Ian and Michelle all the best come race day. Have as enjoyable time as possible and soak up as much of the atmosphere as possible whilst racing hard.

#1883 Michelle Bond
#2345 Michelle Leason (now Leister)
#961 Ian Flego

MELBOURNE MARATHON
Whilst some may get up early to watch the Ironman others in Melbourne will be rising early to take on their own racing on home ground. The Melbourne Marathon Festival is this Sunday with many athletes taking park across the range of distances.
From the Full Marathon, The Half, 10k, 5k and walk there will be thousands of participants pounding the streets before finishing with a lap of the MCG and gaining their finishers medal.
If you are not glued to Ironman or need a break pop into the city and give a cheer to those racing. The courses wind their way around so there are plenty of great vantage points to see all runners on all distances. Racing starts at 7:00am outside Rod Laver arena.
Good luck to all those racing and fingers crossed for a good weather day (for racers and spectators!)
Head to http://melbournemarathon.com.au/ for all event info and course guides. There is also an app with live tracking available on the day so you can see who is where and how they are going.
TRY THE TRI
This Saturday at Elwood sees the first of our summer programs start with a new bunch of fresh faced and eager budding Triathletes raring to get going. Please welcome them as you will see them around the squad over the next few weeks leading into the first race at Elwood on the 26th November.
For those wanting to now brave the chilly bay Lisa from Bikebox and Orca will be down this Saturday with demo suits to try so once your ride is done maybe have a dip in the sea!
TRAINING UPDATE
With Melbourne Marathon going past Elwood please be aware of road closures around the area. Training on Sunday will still take place from Elwood but you may need to allow more time and find an alternate route. . |
