Rains & Race-Readiness

🌧️ Ironman 70.3 Melbourne Wrap-Up

What a Melbourne weekend!  Classic, unpredictable and full of grit. At the IRONMAN 70.3 Melbourne the weather gods delivered rain, wind and enough drama to make even the hard-cores raise an eyebrow. The swim leg was cancelled, the event turned into a ride–run (aka forced duathlon), and while it’s not ideal for those who’ve been nailing their swim sets for weeks, the reality is this: you race the conditions you’re handed.

Massive respect to everyone who turned up, battled through, and crossed the line. The conditions in the morning were truly horrendous (grey skies, heavy rain, puddles the size of paddling pools) and yet our athletes still got it done. The sun eventually made a cameo later in the day (because of course it did). We’re still waiting on the full Tri-Alliance results list and will share it as soon as it’s published.

🧠 Race Ready Mindset – Control What You Can

If Melbourne 70.3 taught us anything, it’s that no matter how perfectly you prepare, race day always has the final say. Weather changes, course adjustments, mechanicals, nutrition mishaps...it’s all part of the game.

The best athletes aren’t those who never face problems; they’re the ones who adapt when they do. They keep perspective, stay calm and focus on what they can control: attitude, preparation and effort.

So as we roll toward the heart of race season, check your gear, your mindset, and your flexibility. Be ready for anything.  Because that’s what being truly race-ready means.

📆 Build Week #2 – Let’s Get Stuck In

We’re now entering Build Week #2, the point in the cycle where you lock it all in. Think of last week as the foundation.  This week’s where you reinforce it. Some of you might be feeling strong and ready to push harder; others might be trying to make up for that “long weekend hangover” from Cup Week. Either way, now’s the time to show consistency.

This is the week that turns good training blocks into great ones. Show up, do the work, and bank those sessions. Race season is around the corner, and it rewards the ones who stayed steady when the distractions came knocking.

🔍 Squad Group Cleanup – Heads Up

You might notice some changes in our Facebook groups soon. We’re doing a quick tidy-up to make sure it reflects our current, active members (the people turning up, training, racing, and keeping the spirit alive).

If you’re taking a temporary break or planning to rejoin later, just let us know so we can keep you in the loop. And if you believe we’ve removed you by mistake (it happens!), reach out and we’ll sort it.

We love our community and want to keep it a supportive, focused space as we roll into the race season.

Wrap-Up

Melbourne brought the rain, the race gods brought the chaos, and we brought the grit. That’s triathlon for you.  Messy, unpredictable and wildly satisfying!

As we work our way into Build Week #2, remember: consistency trumps chaos, and showing up beats waiting for perfect conditions. Because in this sport, perfect doesn’t exist...but prepared does.

See you out there,

💛 Team TA
